New Year’s Eve Bash for the Troops sponsored by the Delaware Community Appreciation Group will be held from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Carlisle Fire Hall, Milford. There will be music by The Movies and refreshments, as well as a cash bar. Tickets are $40 per person, active duty soldiers are free. The Dover English Country Dancers will hold their Annual New Year’s Eve Dance at the Murphy School Hall on King’s Highway in Dover from 8:30 p.m. until midnight. All dances are taught and called. No experience needed. Couples and singles are welcome. Festive evening attire requested, please. Bring a dish to share. Admission is $15 per person. Proceeds go towards the DECD Scholarship Fund. The Blue Hen VFW Post 6483, will be holding an all you can eat breakfast, and will be offering their Breakfast Club Card, from 8 to 11 a.m. The breakfast will cost $6.50 for adults, and $2 for children 2 to 8 years old. The Milford Veterans Affairs Committee urges all military organizations and any youth organizations close to Milford, to volunteer their time and opinions to help prepare for the annual Milford Memorial Day Program. The 21st Delmarva Forestry Seminar will be held at the Dover Modern Maturity Center, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Inside classroom presentations will focus on woodlot insects & disease, marketing wood products, managing Bobwhite quail, basic tree identification, forest taxes and opportunities in agroforestry, specifically silvopasture. Children grades in grades first through fourth will have a chance to Read to the Dogs at 6:30 p.m. at the Harrington Public Library The Literacy Education Assistance Pups will have a demonstration at the library in which they will bring along some of their dogs. After introducing their dogs and explaining what they do, as well as having a demonstration of the training the dogs have received, volunteers from the audience will be invited to sit with the dogs and read to them.
